I received my BS Degree and teaching certification from Colorado State University, Pueblo. I majored in Industrial Technology/Education. I played football at Adams State University where I was the starting center for 3 years. I transferred to the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University at Pueblo) where I completed my education degree.
I am currently finishing up my Masters degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia University. I am also a certified Solidworks instructor. I currently live and work in Broomfield with my wife and 3 children and I have been an Industrial Technology Teacher for 23 years at Broomfield High School. I have also coached football on and off over the years and currently, I am one of the freshman coaches.
During the years when I wasn't coaching at the high school, I enjoyed many years of coaching my son’s youth teams. I also spent 13 years as a high school football official and now I am enjoying my "summer job" as a baseball umpire.
I'm a software engineer at Google Boulder, a former Army Reservist and Iraqi Freedom veteran, and a husband and father of 3. I received my B.S. Computer Science from CU Boulder. Before that I graduated from BHS and it's very exciting to be back to help! I've been mentoring the engineering club since 2011.
I am a cell biologist-turned-science teacher! Although this is only my 2nd year at Broomfield, this is my 11th year teaching science. As a science teacher at BHS, I teach physical sciences and chemistry. I am a PLTW-certified instructor for Intro to Engineering Design and Principles of Biomedical Sciences, previously taught AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2 and AP Physics B, and have served as an AP Physics Reader.
Prior to teaching, I completed my Ph.D. in biochemistry at Dartmouth College in 2008 where I studied the actin dynamics within the surface protrusions of lymphocytes. In 2010, I completed my MA in curriculum and instruction from the University of Denver through the Boettcher Teachers Program. As an undergraduate, I completed a BS in molecular biology as a Boettcher Scholar at the University of Denver.
In my spare time, I play ice hockey, enjoy photography (Nikon!) and gardening, raise goats, and love to take long walks and hikes with my husband, Steve, and our two dogs, Benjamin and Gordie.
